Where I Stayed in Lefkada: Hotel Scorpios

After being amazed by the beauty that is Meteora, we started our journey immediately to Lefkada. The journey was roughly about 4 hours and a very scenic one.

Finding the hotel that we’ve booked was a bit of a challenge though as the hotel’s location isn’t really very easy to find. The way to the hotel was through a narrow dirt road which apparently is still a 2-way street, it was a good thing that we arrived during the day and was able to find it quite easier than if we have arrived at night – I suppose.

Hotel Scorpios is located in Perigiali overlooking the Ionian sea. We’ve met with the owner who had a little bit less hospitality than the owner of the Pyrgos Adrachti in Meteora. LOL. He showed us the room and as soon as the door was opened, he just left us there with no further information given. It was actually quite funny as it felt like we were not welcome and we’ve disturbed him from whatever he’s doing before we arrived. We will later find out though during our stay for the full 5 days that he was actually a nice guy.

The accommodation as opposed to what the name suggests isn’t actually a hotel, it’s more like a hotel apartment which is good for families and long stays. It was a one bedroom unit given to us which had a kitchenette, a small couch and dining table at the living room and a veranda which gives you a fantastic view of the sea. The photos on booking.com are a bit misleading though since our room doesn’t quite look like the ones they have posted on the website. Wi-fi is free and is available only in public areas. They’ve got free parking as well just opposite the property which is very important since you really need to have a car or at least a motorbike if you’re in Lefkada.

The boyfriend didn’t really like the set-up though as he wanted to stay in a hotel where the linens and towels will be changed daily (they changed it every 2 days). The whole apartment was quite dark and it doesn’t really give out a cozy atmosphere but it was clean which is the most important thing for me. It was fine with me since we’re not really going to spend our vacation inside the rooms anyway. I’d say though that the best point of this accommodation is its location. It’s about 5 minutes away by driving from the lively Nydri where all of the shops, restaurants and bars are so it wasn’t much of a hassle for us whenever we stayed out late at night or went to Nydri for breakfast in the morning. Also, since it’s not really right smack at the center of the action – you’ll find peace and quiet at night.

They do serve breakfast as well which is about EUR5 per person. It was actually quite good but of course not a buffet. They’ll serve some bread, jams, eggs, cold cuts and coffee. We only had breakfast there once though since we’d really much prefer to go out and explore the island more and have our meals outside of the hotel. I saw on some of the flyers and posters around the property that they’ve got a Greek night which includes dinner, drinks and some entertainment. Opa!
