What’s Your Favorite Outdoor Dining Restaurant in Doha?

Paper Moon Doha

That was the question I asked some bloggers and social media enthusiasts here in Doha because as you may be aware, it is now officially the al fresco weather in this part of the world. (Do I hear a YAY!?) Thank goodness! I believe this is the most awaited time of the year if you live in the Middle East.

So for all you D-town residents, get out of your air-conditioned buildings to enjoy the great weather and try out these restaurants highly recommended by these fabulous people. While some restaurants suggested below aren’t really al fresco – it still has that open air vibe to it which will make you still enjoy the glorious weather.

Backyard at The Lagoon, The Ritz-Carlton Doha

Of course I’d recommend my favorite place in Doha during this time of the year. Take off your shoes and sit on one of the blankets sprawled all around the backyard of the Lagoon restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Doha as you enjoy the beautiful weather with a glass of beer, great food and highly entertaining live band.

Bandar Aden Yemeni Restaurant

Read full Zomato review here.

This place is for people who would love to experience authentic Yemeni cuisine, nobody comes here for the decor nor design of the restaurant. Although it is not outdoor per se, it still gives you the al fresco ambiance with its traditional majilis style seating area. The choices aren’t a lot here, which makes it easy to decide what you want to have. The food is ABSOLUTELY delicious and portions are just amazing! My favorite is the Zarbian rice with meat and the amazing bread (which can be eaten without anything) that comes with a steaming pot of meat stew. Dessert with the bread covered in milk & sour cream is perfect to end the meal. Usually visit for lunch but dinner is exciting too.

Layali El Qahira

Layali Al Qahira

The outdoor seating area of Layali Al Qahira gives you the sense of the hustle and bustle of the souq. I’ve tried almost everything on the simple menu and it always reminds me of my 2011 Egyptian summer or my mother’s kitchen. Even my mother when she came to visit me earlier this year loved everything about this place, especially the fresh baked bread!!

Antica Pesa, Marsa Malaz Kempinski

Polly, Follow Your Sunshine

My favourite al fresco dining spot in Doha is Antica Pesa at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski. Mr Sunshine and I spent an evening out on the terrace of the upstairs lounge area a couple of Thursdays ago and enjoyed some live jazz music while looking out over the pretty pastel houses of Little Venice. As the sun began to dip, a cool breeze rolled in from the Persian Gulf and we polished off some of our favourite authentic Italian dishes from the menu, we felt like we really could have been sitting on a terrace in Rome itself. It’s a beautiful outdoor space if you ever want to escape from it all.

Paper Moon Doha

Paper Moon Doha — the first time I dined here was with my family, on my birthday which was on the month of February. Luckily it falls under the cooler months, and the weather plays one of the enjoyable elements of the entire dining experience. Paper Moon evokes a lovely ambiance, and offers Italian cuisine that borders between good and great. It’s easily become the family’s favorite dining locale.

Emirgan Sutis

A great restaurant set-up with indoor and outdoor seating area. Emirgan Sutis is located in Emadi Financial Square perfect place for Turkish food outdoors especially at this time of the year. A must try is their iskender kebab, pictured above.

Those are just some of the favorites in the city, I’ll be coming back with a second post on this. Have you tried any of it? Or maybe the better question is, what is YOUR favorite outdoor dining restaurant in Doha?
