Travel Un-Blogged

It’s been more than a month since my last post and I think it’s the longest that I haven’t updated this blog since I started it. I went on a holiday in the US and unlike any other holidays that I’ve taken in the past, my blog wasn’t involved in any part of it. No sponsorship nor complimentary services in exchange of a blog post or a social media update. For the first time in years, I took a real holiday without any work involved. I’ve forgotten how it was like.

I of course couldn’t help myself from taking photos or updating my instastories specially since most of the places we’ve visited during our holiday were gorgeous! The only difference now is, the photos I’m taking and the videos I’m posting are for my own benefit, something to look back to once the holiday’s over. But of course some of it will end up in this blog because who am I kidding really? I’d still write about my travels but probably not as in-depth as the others and probably a bit more honest. Writing is already a part of who I am, I can’t just turn it off now.

The idea of not getting the blog involved during this holiday was requested by The Greek Mister, “let’s just have a relaxing one” he said as he booked and paid full price for the main hotel that we’ll be staying at in Hot Springs, Virginia. While I do all the work when we travel through my blog, I completely forgot that The Greek Mister is also involved in it somehow as I drag him with me to do some sponsored activities, complimentary meals or to have a quick meeting with my point-of-contact in the place that we’re visiting. He didn’t ask for it but somehow, he kinda got involved indirectly and if you know The Greek Mister, you’d know that he hates being told what to do as he’d love to be left alone with his beer while lounging away some place comfortable.

I was able to spend more time with him during our holiday without having to rush on a list of things that we must do while there. We spent all of our time just being together, relaxed which is how all holidays should be. While it’s no surprise for anyone who knows us that we actually do enjoy each other’s company immensely, the recent holiday made me realize that we can be one of those outdoor-sy kind of couple – to some extent. I didn’t know that we had that in us as I thought all along that we’re too lazy to be one.

He still groans a bit when I take millions of photos of him and even moreso when I ask him to take a photo of myself, which by the way is getting better. While it’s still a long way for him to be an instahusband, I’m quite happy to say that his photography skills are getting better – he no longer takes just half of my face but now includes a bit of a scenery in the photo.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, I enjoyed a real holiday for the first time in years and I think I’ll keep doing this. While it’ll be great to be able to incorporate my blog while also exploring some place new, the relaxed state that I’ll be in if I don’t involve my blog on a holiday is incomparable.

In line with this, I think I’ll be taking my blog on a different course as well. It won’t be as “commercialized” as it was but instead, you’ll be reading a bit more random rants and ramblings like this one from hereon. For the nth time, this blog will once again evolve – to be more specific I think this is now the 4th time that I’m changing this blog’s course. I don’t know if this decision will make me lose some readership because who wants to read about the ramblings of a middle-aged woman anyway? But if you do decide to stay, thank you and I’m sorry in advance if I’ll bore you to death.

Here’s to some more travels un-blogged and a bit more ramblings!

Na-miss ko ang Random Musings mo. Actually those are the ones that I really look forward to. My husband also gets constantly irritated when I get stressed out about the sights I want to make perfect photos of, for my blog. He is the photographer between the two of us so I stress him out basically. :-p Good thing I don’t have the “need” to blog about everything these days.

    Gorgeous photos Noime!

    Well done

Welcome to our world. Blogging while traveling does not work with me, but of course my blog is personal and not for profit so that’s a prerogative I have.

I cannot wait to to read all about your US visit.
