Things To Do in Washington DC: Visit the Washington Monument

Washington Monument

The Washington Monument, one of the most iconic structure in Washington DC, is an obelisk built to commemorate the first President of the USA – George Washington. Considered as the world’s tallest obelisk and world’s tallest stone structure, its commanding presence as the centrepiece of Washington DC is hard to miss. I’d say that it’s best viewed from Lincoln Memorial where you have a postcard-worthy view of the whole expanse of National Mall including the reflecting pool. You have the option to go inside the monument to have a bird’s eye view of the city. We weren’t able to do so as we were in Washington DC for only a day. Maybe next time.
