Things To Do in Paris: Seine River Cruise

This might be a little touristy even for me but it was actually still a part of our business trip so I really had no choice. We were invited to join the Seine River Dinner Cruise operated by Bateaux Parisiens and were given 2 long tables at their VIP section. It was quite odd because the ambiance was very romantic with only couples around us probably celebrating an anniversary. I felt so off being there, with all the other 19 colleagues of mine having a good time. No let me rephrase that, GREAT time!

Salwa and moi.

The cruise is a must-do specially if you’re a couple visiting Paris. What can possibly be more romantic than a river cruise down the Seine with the whole of Paris glittering around you and you’re being serenaded by a live jazz band? They serve a three-course dinner and everything they had was great. I wasn’t able to take much photos as I was too busy with these:

I've had one too many of them kir royals.

The service was perfect as well, our waiter was very attentive, funny and proactive – filling up all our glasses with wine as soon as it’s half empty (or half full?). They are also a fountain of knowledge during the cruise itself telling us the names of the buildings, monuments and other Parisian icons that we pass by. They do give you a brief introduction of these places just to pique your interest only if you ask though as I’ve also observed that they’re not very intrusive of your privacy. Your empty plate will be gone from your table without you even knowing it which for me is good specially if you’re a couple since you won’t be bothered by them.

And of course the highlight of the cruise is the iconic Eiffel tower at night:

It was a great evening made even better by the company that I was with and the exquisite service of the staff. Or maybe by the kir royals that I’ve had, I don’t really remember now… 🙂
