Things To Do in New York: Watch a Stand-Up Comedy Show at Carolines on Broadway

Before heading out to New York, I made a mental note that I MUST watch a stand-up comedy show in the Entertainment Capital of the East Coast. I was worried since I wasn’t able to make any reservations or to buy tickets prior to arriving in New York. Thankfully, we were able to buy a ticket in the venue itself.

Carolines on Broadway is one of the most famous and recognized comedy clubs in the US with some of the famous comedians in their been-here list such as Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Jon Stewart, Robin Williams and Chris Rock just to name a few. Located on Broadway between 49th and 50th street, it was walking distance from our hotel Sofitel New York.

We arrived at Carolines on Broadway at around 8:30pm which gave us 30 minutes to spare and have a drink at their bar. The entrance fee was USD17 per person with a mandatory 2-drink minimum order per person inside the club itself. You may opt to have dinner as well before the show but since we already had dinner before going there, we opted to just have some nachos and drinks. The club was of decent size, it was quite empty when we were there so most of the audience were sitting up close the stage. It actually felt like a private comedy show for us, I think we were not more than 50 in the club at the time. They featured about 5 comedians that night and the show lasted for about an hour and a half with no breaks. It was highly enjoyable, the comedians were witty and funny. The only thing that I didn’t like was the show was too short. :p

Note: Camera’s not allowed in the show so I wasn’t able to take photos of the club or the comedians.
