Things To Do in DC: Experience DC’s Waterfront at National Harbor

After our trip to Alexandria, we met my other sister and nephew in DC to have dinner. Our destination for the evening was the lively National Harbor which offers myriad of things to do for adults and kids alike. Shopping, dining, nightlife and fun activities for the whole family in one location – what else can you ask for? It was a cool evening when we arrived but that didn’t stop us from exploring the beautiful National Harbor.

The Capital Wheel holds a commanding presence right above the water in the middle of National Harbor. I wanted to try it but my 5-year old nephew was afraid of heights, lol. I can only imagine how beautiful the view would’ve been from that observation wheel.

As it was a weekend when we went, most of the restaurants were full by the time we arrived. Luckily, we were able to get a table from McCormicks and Schmicks, a waterfront restaurant with al fresco dining option offering seafood and steak. Although the service was not top notch, their food was amazing!

My nephew was looking forward to ride the carousel at the National Harbor so after our great dinner, we went to see it only to find out that it was already closed (it operates only until 8pm). My nephew, of course, cried. Poor him, lesson learned for my sister – never put something for later if you can do it now. Lol.

After letting my nephew play with some weird big blocks of Lego near the carousel, we headed home. I made a mental note to go back and explore National Harbor more whenever I can. 🙂
