The Entertainer Qatar | Chopsticks at Wyndam Grand Regency Hotel

Chopsticks, Wyndham Grand Regency Doha

I was famished after the cold brew event at Wyndham Grand Regency Hotel, it’s the weird effect of coffee on me. It makes me really very hungry if I drank it before eating. I checked my Entertainer App for any vouchers that I can use in the restaurants of Wyndham Grand Regency and found Chopsticks Restaurant which is just great as I was craving for some Asian dishes that night.

Red and black colors dominates the place, channeling the Asian vibe in Chopsticks restaurant. It was empty and dark, we thought it was closed until a lady dressed in cheongsam came from the back of the restaurant to welcome us. We practically had the whole place to ourselves except for one more table which was a bit surprising as it was already 8:30pm at the time, the proper dinner time here in Doha.

A huge and heavy menu was handed over to us, after going through it we decided to have Shanghai spring rolls for appetizers and Manchurian chicken and hakka chow mien for our mains. Crackers of course was served as we waited for our food.

Shanghai spring rolls came first of course and it did satisfy my spring rolls craving. It was crispy and had chicken meat in it which is how my Mom makes it. It’s a very simple dish but I would go back to this restaurant just for that alone, that’s how much I loved it. :p

The Manchurian chicken was a bit salty for me while the hakka chow mien was done perfectly for my taste. The portions were huge and is supposed to be shared – which is how Asian dishes are supposed to be eaten. However, for two very hungry women – it was still too much that there was so many leftovers when we finished.

Service was great but I have to mention that the restaurant was not at all busy so I’m not sure how the service will be if it was full. There was only one waitress at the time and 4 tables occupied during our meal – it’s such a shame because I think their food was good and our experience wasn’t at all bad. It probably would’ve been better though if the restaurant was a little bit brighter and more welcoming, it looks a bit dodgy with its very low light.

A great surprise came to us though when we asked for the bill, they offer complimentary water for their diners. I thought she forgot to put it on our bill and knowing how ridiculously expensive water prices are in restaurants here in Doha – I couldn’t not tell her if it was done by mistake. She informed us though that it’s actually complimentary – definitely the first time I’ve heard of such specially here in Doha. Can’t complain. 🙂

One of my favorite things about dining out here in America is that the water is free. It still surprises me when I go to Europe/Asia and I have to buy water with my meal.

For the most part Chinese restaurants have larger than normal portions meant for sharing.

That is true! And the prices of water in restaurants are normally 10 times from outside. :p
