The Entertainer Qatar | Business Lunch at Tse Yang

Tse Yang, The Pearl Qatar

I have been dreaming about the crispy fried prawn in wasabi mayonnaise from Tse Yang since I had my first taste of it a few weeks ago. It’s very rare that a dish will have this effect on me. I just have to have it again and prove myself that its perfection wasn’t just a figment of my imagination. Somehow, I now know how it feels like for a pregnant woman to crave for something. I think.

Armed with my The Entertainer voucher, I dragged my friend AM to The Pearl to use the business lunch voucher which is a featured offer for this month. It was still closed when we arrived at 11:55am, hah! Thankfully, it was no longer that hot to sit outside their patio as we waited for 5 minutes for it to open. The restaurant manager personally met us outside and immediately recognized me. Much to my dismay, she led us to their smoking area – which is a lot smaller and does not have the fantastic Chinese decor which I loved in their normal dining area. It was only us though and they’re probably still setting up the normal dining area as we were too early.

The business lunch is priced at QAR75 per person for a 5-course meal – appetizer, soup, main course, rice/noodle/vegetable and desserts. Thankfully, the crispy fried prawn in wasabi mayonnaise is included as an appetizer in this offer – of course that was my choice. I also had sweet corn and chicken soup, stir-fried prawn and fresh mango in sweet and sour sauce, vegetable fried rice and refreshing almond jelly with fresh fruits for my dessert.

Crispy fried prawn arrived in all its glory, as this was a part of their business lunch – only 2 pieces were served which I had to eat slowly to savor it. Ahhhh! I can still taste it until now.

Nothing well-noting about the soup except that, it tastes as how it’s supposed to.

The stir-fried prawn had that crispy goodness even if it’s coated by the sweet and sour sauce. Although it was mentioned on the menu that it was supposed to be spicy, I didn’t taste a hint of it. My friend AM who’s not into spicy food tasted it and even she agreed with me. I liked this dish but not as much as I loved the crispy fried free-range chicken in spring onion sauce which was my choice of main course during our first visit. How I wish it was included in their business lunch menu.

Again, nothing special about the vegetable fried rice except that it tastes as how it’s supposed to.

I wasn’t crazy about their dessert though, it was too sweet for me but then again – I’m generally not into sweets anyway.

Food and ambiance was once again great however, the whole time that we were having our lunch – they were cleaning the bar where we were. We could see and hear them as they didn’t do anything to conceal what they were doing. I have to admit though that I didn’t pay much attention to it until my friend AM pointed it out. After she mentioned it, it was hard to ignore it and frankly, it was a bit annoying.

I was advised by their restaurant manager that they are going to change the business lunch menu starting November and would only include a 2-course meal in full portions. Well that gives me an excuse once again to try it out yes? I’m hoping though that on their new business lunch menu, the crisy fried free-range chicken would be included and of course the wasabi prawns. Or maybe not, otherwise I’d be going there every single day.

It’s quite luxurious that a multi-course meal is offered for lunch. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like that here before. Sometimes it’s necessary to have multi-course meals for lunch dates.

It’s quite a normal dining fare for the Chinese to have multiple dishes for each meal which is why I love Chinese restaurants. Haha! 🙂

Never been close to any country in the Middle East. Would love to visit one day. What’s your favorite thing about Qatar?

Favorite thing would be that it’s safe. 🙂
If I’m still here when you come by to visit, I’d be happy to show you around.
