The Courtyard at Al Manzil Hotel

I have been in this fabulous restaurant several times and for all those visits, I’ve received the same excellent service and great food.

The ambiance: it’s an al fresco dining with a nice backdrop of Arabic architecture of the Al Manzil hotel surrounding you. Trees hovering your dining table is not a normal thing to have here in the UAE. although it might be a bit too much for non-smoking diners as the place will be filled by the smell of shisha smoke once it gets busy. I think serving shisha made this quaint place a hit among the locals and foreigners alike. I really don’t mind smelling grape, apple and mint shisha smoke throughout the evening as it just adds up to that Arabic touch of this place.

Staff: are very efficient and friendly. The shisha-coal guys (i made that up as i’m not sure what to call them, but they are the guys roaming around with coals for your shisha) are all over the place to make sure that you’ve got enough coals on your shisha. Waiters are all alert and will ask you if someone already took your orders, we’ve had about 2 or 3 waiters come up to our table just to check if everything was fine.

Service: drinks were served in less than 5 minutes after we placed our order but the food took quite a long time to arrive. But when it did, the long wait was all worth it.

Food: they serve Lebanese and some pasta. I ordered a mix grilled seafood which was OH. SO. NICE. It had hammour fish, lobster tails, mussels and 1 cup of rice. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The boyfriend ordered a pasta with mushrooms which tasted just as great.

Price: a bit on the pricey side but considering the ambiance and the quality of the food they serve, i wouldn’t mind going back there and pay a little more to get all these services. It really is worth your dirhams.

Rating: I’d give it a 9 and would definitely go back there. The one point less goes to the fact that they don’t have much variety in their menu. I hope they have more food choices as I’m sure everything they will serve will be great.

Some tips: if you don’t want to wait to be seated, go to the restaurant as early as 7pm so you’ll be seated right away. By 9pm, the place gets really busy (regardless if it’s a weekday or a weekend) and you may have to wait for a long time since the courtyard has a limited seating capacity.
