It’s been a long time since I’ve written something on here but first of all, let me tell you one thing: the universe finally gave me some slack this month, September 2012. A lot of good things happened to me this month, one of which is I, my dear friends, finally got promoted. Well technically, I applied for a new post on a higher grade and I got it, so I think it’s not really a promotion. I haven’t told anyone about it because I’m not the kind to announce every single thing that is happening around me to the world but then I realized, my facebook page is full of rants and naggings. It’s very easy for me to complain but never to be thankful of something, so here I am, being thankful. And here I am, announcing to the world, with my head held up high that I have been promoted purely because of my skills and the new department that I’m working for now thought that I deserve the position. I didn’t have to kiss anyone’s ass nor did I have anyone to back me up for it which is apparently what you have to do to get promoted these days.
Moving on to the new department, work has been up to my eyeballs lately. Never having the time to take the 30-minute lunch but apart from all that, I’m loving it. Well of course there is no perfect job, that I know for sure. Let me put it this way, I am still in the honeymoon stage with my new job and seeing only good things about it. Still oblivious of the evil things lurking around me. Well as they say, ignorance is a bliss and I’m hoping to be in this honeymoon stage for as long as I can. My new colleagues are all very helpful and my manager is fantastic. Hopefully, I’m not just imagining it. 🙂
In terms of the love department, there are also some pretty good things happening. A step forward I must say or rather, a HUGE step forward. The details of which cannot be disclosed on the blog but NO, we’re not getting married and NO, I’m not pregnant.
On the other hand, I am getting white hair. At the very top of my head so people can immediately see it. It actually runs in our family to have ridiculous white hair at an early age but holy crap, I thought I’ll be spared from all that. BUT the white hair/s can’t and won’t put me down for this month is a very good month for me. 🙂
A belated congratulations! I can’t say how much I enjoy reading through your old Dubai posts! You should make an e-book. I’ll be the first one to buy it!
How are you getting to all these really old posts? :p
Hey! Congratulations on your promotion! Your life seems very interesting and fun.
One afternoon I was googling manggang hilaw and bagoong in Dubai and i saw your blog about street food which made me miss street food even more. Ive read at least maybe 20 of your blogs or probably more. They are very interesting. I love travelling. Only thing is i dont have that luxury. In my 29 years of existence ive seen only 5 countries. Well at least i can sort of experience places through your blogs. They all sound fun. Sometimes i wish i was tall etc etc so that i can be a cabin crew. Its funny but I’ve tried going for a cabin crew interview once but after the interview theyve sort of asked me to reach on to something really high. Ok not really high but high enough for me not to be able to reach it.
I know you’ve already mentioned once in your blog how difficult a travel agent job is. Its a very challenging job and patience is a must. But i would want to try it out. Do you think its possible for someone like me who doesnt even have an experience to start in this career (if ever i get one) ?
Hi Sheva,
When I saw the alert on my phone that someone commented on my blog and greeted me with my first name, I froze. As I don’t remember putting my real name on any of my posts. So please, shed light to this mystery. :p
My life’s dull, maybe I just make it interesting thru the blog but trust me, I think you’d rather poke your eye to pass time than to switch places with me. That street food blog is actually a big help for my stats, there are a lot of hungry Filipinos in the world missing the good old days when the “Mamang Fishballs” will go around our neighborhood selling his delicacy I suppose. YUM! 🙂
Traveling is definitely fun, but seriously though, you don’t have to be a travel agent to be able to travel. It’s all about putting it in your top priority like what I do for myself. I don’t earn a lot (I’m poorer than a mouse) but I don’t shop, I don’t eat, I don’t do anything which will entail me to cash out some of my moolah if I know that a holiday is coming up. Hahaha. But if you really want to, working in a travel industry field as a normal accountant or admin or HR or whatever it is that you’re doing is enough for you to get the perks that I’m getting. Being a travel agent is a bit tough to get these days. I guess we’re the new Filipino nurses, in demand all over the world. I know ‘coz whenever receive the available job alerts on jobsites it’s always in line with our industry. Hah!
Thank you for reading some 20 posts of my blogsite, please do read more and I hope you get travel more as well (5 countries isn’t bad by the way).
