Among all the places I’ve visited in Sri Lanka, Kandy mesmerized me the most. I’m not a city person, I don’t like seeing tall buildings or concrete walls which is why Kandy’s location being in the midst of rolling hills made me fall in love with it. Being the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy is listed as one of the UNESCO Heritage Sites. The Temple of the Tooth can be found here which is one of the most important and sacred temples of the Buddhist religion.
Being in the center of the island country and in a much higher elevation, Kandy enjoys cooler temperature compared to the tropical climate of the rest of Sri Lanka. We stayed in the lovely Amaya Hills perched atop a hill where we enjoyed the fantastic views of the rainforest around us and a very pleasant weather. One can’t help but fall in love with it.

I love Kandy! If given a chance to relocate to Sri Lanka, I’d pick this place to live in. 🙂
