Ramadan in Doha 2016: Al Jawhara Tent at Intercontinental Doha The City

Second iftar invitation was from Al Jawhara Tent at Intercontinental Doha The City. On this particular day, there were two other food events in different hotels here in Doha for Ramadan. Some bloggers went through all three (they deserve an applause and a statue somewhere for sure), some went to two (they deserve an applause as well and a medal) while I, being the lightweight that I am, can only manage to attend one event. I cancelled one and rescheduled the other. I’m an old woman, I need to have enough hours to digest my food plus, suhour is already sleeping time for me. 🙂

We arrived at Intecontinental Doha The City at 6pm, 30 minutes before the iftar proper so I can take photos of the venue and the buffet stations without having to deal with a crowd of diners. Iftars tend to be busy most of the time as it’s the first ever meal Muslims eat after a whole day of fasting.

Dishes served were a combination of Arabic and international cuisine with a focus more on Arabic dishes. My favorites were the chicken liver, chicken wings and lamb chops. I know, very simple dishes but my taste palate are just as simple as well. I’m not sure if I was just extremely hungry that time as I didn’t eat lunch to prepare for this iftar or if the food served was really good.

Iftar at Intercontinental Doha The City was held at the Al Jawhara Tent in their massive ballroom. I loved the look and feel of it, very traditional and laidback. They have 3 widescreen projectors which will show the European Championship Football games and they also have majlis for diners who’d like to have privacy while dining with their own personal television as well (curtains can be closed so that you won’t be in full view of everyone).

Shisha is available upon request at Al Jawhara Tent (additional fee) and you can have it at the traditional Arabic seating area set on one side of the tent.

It looks great. I can fly to Qatar, if I am provided with the opportunity to have Aftaar Dinner in Qatar.
Qatar is a rich Islamic Country, where Ramada is celebrated with respect, care and devotion.
Therefore Ramadan in Qatar is full of peace, food, and social gathering.
