Photo Essay: Sunset in Nea Paralia, Thessaloniki, Greece.

Sunset in Nea Paralia, Thessaloniki, Greece

There is something about sunsets that I find so enigmatic. The burst of colors in the sky which reflects on the sea below it, when everything is transfixed and only the light moves which happens for a fleeting minute before the sun finally bids farewell to the day that was. It gives me a particular sense of calmness probably because it is the time when you can finally reap the rewards of the day that passed. A beautiful sunset makes me stop worrying about the future and fretting about the past, for a few minutes of witnessing this marvelous work of nature – I can honestly find myself at the present to enjoy it. Afterwards, I always feel like life is a little better.

What do you like better? Sunrise or sunset?

    Beautiful shots!
Hard to decide, I love both sunset and sunrise.
Sunrises can be more special, not everyone wakes up early to see it, not to mention that smell of early morning 😀

I wouldn’t know what an early morning smells like, I should probably catch a sunrise soon. :p

Lovely photos 🙂 I love both sunrise and sunset. But like you, I’m also too lazy to catch sunrise 😉

Hahaha! I bet we’re missing something amazing about sunrises. :p

My work schedule does not allow for sunrise watching and sunset watching. During weekends, I do get to sneak a peek at the sunset and I must say that sunsets are very soothing, calming, comforting while sunrises are very inspiring.

My body clock doesn’t allow for sunrise watching. It likes sleeping in more. Lol.

What beautiful photos! I love a good sunset, but there is something magical about the freshness that a sunrise presents – I do tend to miss them however as I also love sleep-ins!

I have to say sunset purely because I haven’t encountered many sunrises!! Thessaloniki has wonderful sunsets thanks to the seaside promenade.

I think I just can´t choose between sunrise and sunset. O gosh, I have never been asked it before =) They both are so incredibly amazing, so full of life, so full of power and with amazing colors. I think that I prefer the light during sunrise, but the colors during sunset.. o gosh, so hard!!! =)

I can easily say sunset because I’m too lazy to witness a sunrise. :p
