I have been contemplating for many days now since I’ve arrived from my quick weekend break spent in Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa in Muscat, Oman. I don’t really know how to illustrate the amazing weekend that I had in the most effective way to convince you, my readers, to consider that property for your next holiday. Should I write about my whole experience per day? No that would be too long and would probably bore the crap out of anyone reading it. Should I write about it per property since there are three resorts in it? No, there would be too many photos in one post. It’s quite a hard decision to do really specially when I have about 800 photos that I’d like to show you all but is just impossible to do. So I’ve decided to do a series of posts about the key features of the property. I think this is the most effective way to convince anyone, to have a photo-heavy blog post since we all know that our sense of sight is the easiest to satisfy. So for the first of the many series, I’ll start with the luxurious lobby of Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa – Al Husn.
On our first day, we arrived late at night to this glorious entrance of Al Husn. A staff immediately assisted us with our luggage and directed us to the reception area for check-in.
It’s like entering a royal Arabian palace, I felt so odd and out of place with my squeaky shoes. 🙂
The lobby is accented by a waterway and original Omani artworks.
After the quick and personalized check-in, we were led to our room. It was then did I realize how massive the whole property really is. Good thing a map was provided to us.
The next day, I went out to their lobby before going for breakfast just to admire its beauty during daylight. While it’s more dramatic in the evening, it still looks palatial to me during the day – very spacious and pleasing to the eyes.
It was then did I realize that the lobby opens out to a beautiful courtyard outside.
If the weather is good, the complimentary afternoon tea is served in this courtyard. Unfortunately, it was quite windy during our stay.
It really is amazing isn’t it?
The hallways leading to the rooms from the lobby are dotted with strategically-placed windows to give you a glimpse of the paradise awaiting for you outside.
It’s definitely hard not to fall in love with the property as soon as you walk in the lobby. It gives you a very good first impression of what’s in store for you during your stay. Don’t be fooled though of the luxurious design of the place because the customer service that you’ll receive definitely exudes the warm hospitality of the Omani culture.
I was a guest at Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa however as always, all opinions and photos are my own.
