Oman | Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa – Al Husn, The Breakfast.

Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa

Breakfasts in Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa – Al Husn is served in Sultanah Restaurant located on the ground floor. I love the fact that breakfasts are served until 11 in the morning which gives us enough time to sleep in for a much-needed break. I think all resorts and hotels should serve late breakfasts, it definitely adds up to a great experience.

The indoor breakfast area was quite small but there were a few tables at the terrace which were left unused during our stay there as it was a bit windy outside. Servers will immediately hand a breakfast menu to you as soon as you walk-in. Breakfast main dishes are served straight out from their kitchen which I think I prefer.

I was expecting a one-page menu for breakfast with a few egg dishes. What was given to us though was a proper menu with breakfast dishes from around the world! I had a really hard time choosing which one I’ll get for both days that we had our breakfast.

There is of course a breakfast buffet spread as well – pastries, cereals, breads, cold cuts, cheese, Arabic mezzes and even Japanese rolls are available. There’s also a section which offers gluten-free and sugar-free options, that’s the first time I’ve seen such option in hotel’s breakfast buffet.

I had the Japanese breakfast on our first day and a wonton soup on our second day. I loved both although I must say that the wonton soup was a bit too spicy for me even though I love spicy food. I think I was a bit taken aback to have such a spicy dish as my first meal of the day. It definitely woke me up immediately.

Sultanah Restaurant¬†is very relaxed and laidback, I loved the atmosphere and the service of the staff. The service is very personalized that on our next day, the server already knew what kind of coffee we’d like to have. That is a great touch I think.
