There’s something special about OPEN Restaurant at Doubletree by Hilton Doha which I can’t put a finger on. Is it the well-thought of industrial, vertical design of the restaurant which gives a very open atmosphere? Or maybe it’s the warm smiles of the staff? Is it the minimalist presentation of their open buffet section? Or probably the reasonable prices for a la carte and buffet options? Whatever the case may be, OPEN Restaurant is set to be more than a hotel restaurant. I think it has the potential to make this fairly new hotel of Doubletree by Hilton Doha well-known in the city.
I met my friend N at OPEN Restaurant for lunch yesterday. It was my lunch treat for her as she was nice enough to buy some goodies for me during her trip to Dubai a few weeks ago. She had to go back to work after our lunch though so we had to choose a restaurant somewhere close by. With the help of my Entertainer App of course, we decided to try out this restaurant as it was the closest to her workplace. We’ve no idea what to expect because frankly, we chose it based on its proximity to her workplace.
They have a business lunch, buffet and an a la carte option for lunch. As we were going to use the Entertainer voucher, we opted for the a la carte option but that didn’t stop me from checking out what they’ve got for their buffet lunch. It’s a pretty small buffet spread but I think it has a good variety. Arabic, Asian and Western dishes were displayed which all looked appetizing! Some friends of ours have just tried their Friday brunch which they loved, I’m very curious to try it myself.
We both had Doubletree Triple Decker Club Sandwich which had turkey ham, veal bacon, chicken, egg, brie, tomatoes and French fries. The bread was lightly toasted which gave it enough crunch for each bite. There was no mayonnaise involved which is how I prefer a club sandwich not because of health reasons (I’m not very health conscious though I think I have to be) but because mayonnaise makes the sandwich heavier for me and frankly, I’m not one to leave any leftovers on my plate. The french fries which was served alongside it was crispy as well as the salad which also wasn’t drenched in dressing.
It was a rather simple meal yet a very good one. I do want to try out their Friday brunch soon.
