How to help Yolanda/Haiyan victims from Dubai?

November 12, 2013

If you’re living in Dubai and have a good heart, here’s how you can help our brothers and sisters who are currently in desperate need of your help in the aftermath of the biggest typhoon in the world. 1 canned good can feed one hungry soul out of the hundreds who are suffering the same so any help will do.

What they require:

1.) DO NOT PACK NOODLES OR ANYTHING THAT NEEDS WATER. There is no water and electricity so it is impossible to consume this kind of food.

2.) PACK MEDICINES – most especially basic medicines (biogesic, bioflu, robitussin etc). Also if possible, includ medicine for surface wounds as many have been wounded because of the debris and fallen rooftops.

3.) PACK AT LEAST ONE BOTTLE OF WATER. People are raging for water (some have even become violent just for water). There is no source of water at all at any part of Tacloban.

4.) PACK CANDLES AND MATCHES – there’s no electricity for a minimum of two months so all people will need these.

5.) ENCOURAGE YOUR RESPECTIVE GROUP/ORGANIZATION TO DONATE BODYBAGS. Bodies are lying around the roads within the city and some of the places have already been filled up with bodies.

Where you can bring it:

Canned goods and non-perishable foods can be delivered to Makati Cargo Express in Karama this Friday, 15NOV 4pm-8pm. Donations will be sent by air for free the next day to ABSCBN’s Sagip sa Pamilya in Cebu and Tacloban.

LBC Karama Office will accept your donations until 30NOV. Dubai Branch: Shop 4 Mubarak, Kahlifa Bldg., No. 75 10D Street, Al Karama, Dubai, UAE Customer Service Hotline: 800-035702444

For medicines, clothing, blankets or other goods you can bring your donations to the Philippine Consulate General and the Philippine Overseas Labour Office (POLO) in Dubai this Friday, 15NOV.

Other events related to the cause:

‘Brunch for a Cause’ from 11am to 4pm on Friday at the Philippine Consulate where each participant will pay Dh50 for a meal, the proceeds of which will go to victims.

Unity Run for Yolanda Typhoon Victims at Zabeel Park, 12NOV – 7pm to 8:30pm.

PINOY Fundraising Lunch for typhoon yolanda victims at The Greens, 16NOV at 12nn.

Fiesta For a Cause, #YolandaPH benefit lunch/dinner. 22NOV

If you have your own arrangements or events organized for this cause, please do let me know so I can update the list.

Thank you!

The news coverage is just heart-breaking! Hard to believe. Do you know the blog http://afternoonwalks.wordpress.com/ ? It features some really endearing and beautiful photos of the children, famlies and life in Tacloban. Have been following it for a while now so I immediately envision the children’s smiling faces in his photos when I see the wreckage and destruction on the news. Really sobering. Anyway – here is another post about more general relief efforts I came across today if this helps you at all (I thought the photos would link to the aid agency, but I don’t think they do??) http://jetsettimes.com/2013/11/11/pray-for-philippines/
