I am mentally kicking my ass for this extreme failure of a day. It was our last full day in San Francisco and I can’t believe I have wasted it. Well not really a complete waste because we got to see Sausalito.

We were more than happy to drive out of San Francisco that morning and decided to have our breakfast in Sausalito, the charming little town just across the Golden Gate Bridge. As soon as we got out of the tunnel, you can immediately tell that you’ve now entered a different dimension. The views were stunning and while I wouldn’t really say that it has that Mediterranean feel to it (as a lot of people have claimed) I can see why they say that it is.

It does have that quaint, fishing village, slow life look. We parked our car and noticed that we arrived ahead of the tourist buses and boats so we thought we’ll have some peace and quiet before all the tourists come. There was however a store selling unique San Francisco souvenirs which had a sale going on so I basically spent the first few minutes of our time in Sausalito rummaging through their merchandise. (Stupid me!) After that rare shopping stop, we walked around and admired the quaintness of Sausalito. Loved the architecture and all the cute little shops lined up in the downtown area.

We had breakfast in one of the cafés at the waterfront which turned out to be a bad choice, food was crap and so was the coffee. Anyway, we didn’t stay long in Sausalito as we were to embark on another long drive to Healdsburg. I seriously can’t believe I chose Healdsburg over all the other places I was considering on visiting for this day. Don’t get me wrong, it was cute and all but I feel like it would have been a much more productive day for us if we instead went to Muir Woods or even Lake Tahoe which the Greek Mister’s been dying to see.

We didn’t stay for long because the town centre was quite small and all the other places that we can see around the area has to do something with wine and none of us drink wine (another mistake on my part). Lol. After having an icecream, we started our drive back to San Francisco not realizing the traffic that we’ll go through during the peak hours – again, my mistake. So in short, we basically spent this whole day driving around without really seeing much except for Sausalito. I really wish we went to Muir Woods instead.

We met my brother-in-law in San Francisco for dinner and chose to have dinner at a Zzan Korean Restaurant near the hotel. At least the food that we had then was great, but it still doesn’t erase the fact that we’ve wasted this day. Oh well, we’re going to Yosemite National Park anyway the next day and I’m 100% sure that it’ll be good.
Oh my you were in my neck of the woods.
