Expat Life in Dubai

Happy New Year from Dubai!

January 1, 2014
Dubai

New day, new year. They say time flies so fast when you’re having a good time, well to tell you very honestly I’m not very sure if it’s true here in Dubai or if it’s just really a fast-paced city. It seems to me like it was only a month ago when I attended the Snoop Dogg New Year’s Eve concert in Meydan for 2013 – but a whole year has already passed since it happened and we were celebrating the same occasion once again over at our friend’s house last night where we got a great view of the fireworks from the rooftop. Yes, we decided to avoid the crowd this year and keep it a little laidback. We’ve been attending these really crazy NYE parties for the past 5 years now in Dubai that we somehow got tired of it already. All we really need for NYE is the company of good friends anyway and that’s exactly what we did last night.

Have you heard that Dubai tried to break the Guinness’ World Record for the largest ever fireworks display? It happened at The Palm Jumeirah where a lot of people got stranded due to the high volume of traffic. Frankly speaking though, I loved the fireworks at the Burj Khalifa more. What about you?

That’s how Dubai celebrates anything really – GRAND! MASSIVE! EXPENSIVE!

We have a saying in the Philippines that whatever you were doing while you welcomed the new year will be what you will be doing for the whole year. Well, if that is at all true – I think Dubai will be setting off MORE world records this year.

Yes, Dubai is now adding up the Guinness’ World Record of Largest Fireworks Display amongst many other records that they already have.

Happy New Year!

I was out in Layan/Al Waha, so i only saw the fireworks from very far away. Though as you said, it’s the company that counts:) Hope to see you soon, Pia will send you an email regarding the 18th:)
