Expat Life in Dubai

Happy National Day UAE!

December 3, 2008

I love December. Aside from the fact that it’s a festive season, there’s just too many non-working holidays as well. First was the National Day, spent it with the cowboy himself on the desert driving a buggy. It was so much fun!!! The buggy driving costs AED695, i paid for it thinking that staff discount will be applied but much to my dismay, Arabian Adventures is getting it from another tour operator so staff discount cannot be applied. Oh well! It was all worth it anyway. They picked us up from Al Manzil hotel then drove for about 45mins going to the desert and from there started our journey on a buggy and braved the sand dunes of the desert. It was great! Well, for me it was, just not sure if the cowboy enjoyed it as much as i did as he’s been itching to make the buggy jump off the sand dunes but was warned beforehand that the buggy was not designed for any bad-ass moves. haha. i know his heart sank when he was advised of it. And i know for sure he was disappointed as he’s so used to having dirtier and more daredevil acts back home. sorry cowboy…. anyway, it’s a must-do here in dubai. after desert safari, try sand riding (Arabian Adventures (04)3034888) – it’s a definite thrill. We were picked up by 8am and was back by 12nn, slept for the rest of the day then went on to meet my ex-colleagues from the philippines who are now all in Dubai. 🙂 They have been nagging me to meet up with them but it just so happen that everytime they nag me to meet up with them i already have plans with other friends or either am on my vacation. So this time, i made the plans and reserved the night of December 2 for these ladies and finally met up with them. Funny though, they’ve been in Dubai for almost a year now but have not gone to Madinat yet. So I played the part of a tour guide and roamed around MAdinat while they oooohhhed and aaahhhheed at the sights (can’t blame them as i reacted the same way when i first got there. haha!) We had dinner at Meat and Co. and I had ribs once again. Yum Yum! For me, it’s the best ribs I’ve ever eaten in the entire 25 years of my life. :p They took their Burj al Arab photos and then we called it a night.Anyhow, it was a great holiday for me. Very very good! :p
