“There are 5 star resorts then there’s Four Seasons” The Greek Mister casually announced as he sipped on his vodka tonic while watching the sea view from the comforts of our Deluxe Villa at the Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay. I have just finished my site inspection of the resort then and joined the Greek Mister in our villa, we were looking forward to our very short one night stay in this resort the most during our Bali holiday. I have arranged our itinerary myself and made sure that our last night in this island would be nothing but special.

In fact, it was more than special – the well-appointed villa exudes luxury without having to sacrifice comfort. It is a down-to-earth opulence, it doesn’t intimidate you and doesn’t have that in-your-face grandeur. It’s classy, it’s stylish and embraces you with sophisticated comfort like how a mother would her child.

With two living room areas, one outdoor and one indoor – our deluxe villa gives you the best of both worlds, al fresco and air-conditioned. The villa comes with a private pool, possibly not enough size to do your laps but good enough to enjoy a dip anytime you fancy it.

The king size bed which is one of the things which made Four Seasons famous was lush and hugs you as you sink into its mattress. It’s hard to get out of it once you’ve sunk into it. The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom itself, with an indoor tub, an indoor shower area and an outdoor shower area as well. We made the most out of the outdoor space of our villa the entire stay, it would be cold in London by the time we go back and it’s possibly our last chance to stay outdoors for a very long time.

We had dinner at Sundara Bali which overlooks the beautiful Jimbaran Bay. It’s famous for its sunset views and of course cocktails and food. We arrived just in time for happy hour and enjoyed some drinks before having a lavish dinner. Their dining option is unique, you can get three sizes for your food – small, medium and large. Small portion is tapas style while the large option is family style. The medium portion could be both sharing or a meal for one – depending on your mood. All of the dishes were priced the same based on the size of the portion.

We had small portions of crab and coconut and torched foie gras, it was a bad combination but great as a standalone dish. I wasn’t very crazy about the crab and coconut though which was surprising considering those are two of my favorite foods. The torched foie gras on the other hand was remarkable, I had to refrain from eating it all since The Greek Mister and myself were sharing. The highlight of our meal however was the Char Grilled Grain Fed Stock Yard Rib-Eye which we ordered as a large portion. It was exquisite! The Greek Mister declared that it was the best steak he’s ever had, I’ll have to agree.

After our meal, the staff at the restaurant asked if we would like them to call us a buggy service to our room – it’s one of the things I love about the Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, service is cordial and efficient. Every time we were to interact with their staff, we’re met with welcoming faces and there’s no request too impossible for them. They now also have a mobile app where you can have a live chat with a staff if you have any questions or request during your stay. Works well for me who hates phone calls. Lol.

The Greek Mister had a night swim in our private pool while I enjoyed a nightcap from our outdoor living room. We woke up early the next day to enjoy a pre-breakfast dip in the pool before heading to Taman Wantilan for breakfast. The view from the seating area of the restaurant is stunning! It’s definitely something to look forward to every morning. The buffet spread of course was extensive with Western and Asian options, the latter was what I feasted on of course.

After the hearty meal, we went back to our villa to enjoy every single minute that we have left in Bali. The resort kindly gave us a late check-out until 3pm so we practically had the whole day before we were driven back to the airport for our 7pm flight back to the UK. Leaving the resort was definitely heartbreaking but at the same time, left us in a joyous state that we spent our last 24 hours in an amazing resort such as Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay. We shall return, most definitely.
