I was a little bit disappointed of Los Angeles when I first arrived specially after seeing the numerous touristic landmarks which to be very honest, I consider a tad overrated. This was the very reason why I have kept silent about my Los Angeles trip. As they say, if you’ve got nothing good to say then it’s better to keep your mouth shut. So I’m keeping it shut. I must admit though that I haven’t seen a lot of Los Angeles, some people said that the outskirts are awesome. I’ll have to go there and give LA another shot.
The view of Los Angeles’ skyline from my Aunt’s terrace. Isn’t that the most amazing thing? 🙂
I can’t ignore that one day though that I did love being in Los Angeles. It started when a family-friend of ours picked us up from my Aunt’s place and took us around the city. The first stop was the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels which was a huge disappointment for me – the reason why I didn’t take any photos. It wasn’t the “cathedral” that I’m used to seeing as it was too modern and felt a bit cold. Nope, not for me. We then headed to Pasadena for lunch. Pasadena is one of the oldest cities nearby Los Angeles, it’s a famous location for Hollywood films and TV shows. One of my favorites, Father of the Bride was shot here. 🙂 We had our lunch at a small Asian restaurant called Noodle World where we had an incredible meal. Everything was so tasty, most specially the Vietnamese pho. Yum!
After our very satisfying lunch, we headed to The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Garden to spend our afternoon. It features a large art collection inside the Huntington mansion and an incredible 150-acre of botanical garden surrounding it. The gardens were magnificent and very well kept. Of course I took loads of photos. I loved it!
I think we spent a good 2 hours inside the gardens and the mansion and it felt like it still wasn’t enough. The only reason why we had to leave was they were about to close. It’s a must-see if you ever find yourself in Los Angeles and highly recommended for all those who are into art but even I who’s got almost zero knowledge about art was fascinated by it.
One Fine Day in Los Angeles Part II coming up. 🙂
