Ease Your Tired Muscles With A Lava Shell Massage Only From Chic And Posh Beauty Lounge

You probably know by now how much I love getting a massage, I’ve tried it all – from the cheapest to the most expensive and I realized that the correlation between the quality of the massage and the amount you pay for it is nonexistent. It doesn’t mean that the more you spend the better the massage is going to be. Most of the best experiences that I’ve had are from the cheapest places – you’re merely paying for the extra amenities in the expensive ones.

When I received an invitation from Chic and Posh Beauty Lounge to try out their lava shell massage, I was immediately intrigued. I have not heard of this massage treatment before so I quickly did my research and checked the price of the treatment. Priced at QR600, I’d say it isn’t really the cheapest massage treatment I’ll ever have. Is it worth it? was my first thought.

I arrived at Chic and Posh at 11am on a Monday. I was given a quick tour of the beautiful salon before I started with my massage. I made a mental note to try out their tanning treatment next time. After the tour, I was led to the therapy room where my masseuse asked me what kind of scent I’d like to have on the oil she’ll use for the massage. I chose rose for no particular reason. :p

She showed me the lava shell that she’s going to use for this treatment which was actually sourced out from the Philippines. Yes, I did my little research about this treatment. Palm-sized tiger clam shells are polished to glide smoothly on your body. The Lava Gel which is a teabag-like sachet is placed inside each shell – it contains algae, sea kelp and natural minerals. Combined with the liquid activator, it generates natural heat which can last for hours.

My masseuse started by putting some body oil on me with a bit of Swedish massage incorporated in it. The lava shells were then used and the heat coming from it was so soothing. It feels so different from the regular massage mainly because hands aren’t used, the masseuse uses different areas of the Lava Shells depending on the area of your body being massaged. The narrow edge was used on shoulder blades, toes and hands, the smooth surface of the shell was used to apply gentle pressure to calves and arms while the back of the shell was used to work away at tight knots. It was so hard to keep myself from sleeping, I wanted to be awake the entire process to fully appreciate the treatment.

What are the benefits of a lava shell massage you may ask? Apparently, a lot!

  • The heat penetrates deeply into your muscle tissue which results to relaxation of sore and stiff muscles.
  • Increase in extension of soft tissues.
  • Removal of toxins from cells.
  • Enhanced blood flow.
  • Increased function of tissue cells.
  • Relief of painful arthritic joints.
  • Reduces swelling and water retention.

I walked out of the treatment room like I was floating on air. It was one of the most relaxing massage experience I’ve ever had. While I still find the price a bit out of my range, I think it’s one of those treatments that I’d be seeking out from time to time. It was just glorious!

After the massage, I had a manicure and pedicure and tried out a nail art for the first time. Rachel, the nail technician is like the Picasso for nails – her work was so precise and outstanding!

I arrived at Chic and Posh at 11am and left at 3pm, 4 hours of getting pampered like a queen – I’d say it was a really great day.

I was a guest of Chic & Posh during this visit and received the lava shell massage for free. As always, photos are my own and opinions stated are genuine and in no way influenced. Nail treatments are paid by myself.

This treatment starts by massaging the front of the body for 30 minutes ,this includes the front of the legs, the arms, shoulders and abdominal area. To follow is a 15 minute massage of the back of the legs and then a 30 minute back massage. Throughout the treatment a combination of both manual Aromatherapy and Lava Shell massage techniques are used adjusted to your specific needs.
