Do you have that one restaurant which you always have in mind when you’re looking for somewhere to bring your visiting friends and family to? The Pottery Tapas Bar is that kind of restaurant for us here in Kingston. Everytime someone’s visiting us, a dinner in this place is always included in the itinerary. Whenever we feel like going out for some drinks and great food but we don’t want to go so far away from our apartment, The Pottery Tapas Bar is always our first choice. Located 10 mins away from our place (if we walk really slowly), I feel quite lucky to have it as our go-to neighborhood restaurant/bar.

The Pottery Tapas Bar serves Spanish cuisine with a heavy focus on tapas – a variety of appetizers which can either be hot or cold. We’ve only had a main course here once and that was during my birthday last year. We had paella then on top of all the tapas that we ordered. We didn’t realize that the tapas alone can already fill us up so by the time the huge serving of paella came to our table, we were already so full that we had to ask our waiter to put it in a take-away container. Since then, we always prefer to just order their Tabla de Tapas which is a selection of three tapas served as a main course.

If you think about it, it’s the best choice if you want to try out multiple dishes in one dining experience. Prices of each tapas varies between £6-£9 and the serving is enough for three people to share. It’s the kind of meal that would be best if you want to enjoy the food than overindulge in it.

My mother-in-law was visiting a couple of weeks ago and we brought her to The Pottery Tapas Bar for dinner one night. It was not your regular night though as it was the 14th of February, for a lot of people this is such a special occasion but not for us. Lol. The Greek Mister and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s day so we never really gave much thought about it. We actually didn’t even know that it was Valentine’s Day until we walked in the restaurant and saw the Valentine’s day decor all around us and some couples who were probably celebrating this occasion. I don’t know why but we’re not really into it but no judgment here if you do celebrate it.

My favorite tapas to order in The Pottery Tapas Bar are chorizo, chick peas and goat cheese; beef and lamb sausages and the Spanish meat balls. The Greek Mister shares the same favorites so these three are always a part of our visit at The Pottery Tapas Bar. Each time we go there, the quality of food is just as great as the previous visits. Never fails. The mother-in-law was equally impressed.

They also have a fantastic outdoor seating which The Greek Mister and I are both excited about. Come spring or the summer, I’m pretty sure we’ll be visiting The Pottery Tapas Bar much more frequently to enjoy the pretty al fresco dining area.

This place looks great and the food looks so good. I really like Tapas places to eat and am going to one this week where I live!! My favourites would always be a lamb dish, patatas bravas, chorizo, oh too many to name. I also love the decor in this place, it looks like the type of restaurant I love to visit.

I love that this is not a chain restaurant, I think family-run restaurants are always better than chains. 🙂

I love the interior of this tapas bar! The meatballs look so yummy but I wish the fries portion was bigger, because I LOOOOVE fries hehe. It’s not always easy to please mothers-in-law so this place must really be somethin’ else!

Thankfully, I get along extremely well with my mother-in-law but she has a very discerning taste specially when it comes to Mediterranean cuisine as she knows a lot about it. This is the reason why we love this restaurant – serves good food all the time. 🙂

Those are decent sized tapas dishes! Being English I have to say the sausage and mash looks absolutely delicious, please take me here when I visit London! The Spanish meat balls you mentioned look good too! I’ll definitely try this place out!

Going for tapas for a family dinner on Valentine’s day is a brilliant idea. The best part about the tapas is that you can share the dishes with different people and get to try very dish instead of just ordering your own meals. The lamb sausage looks delicious. Did you guys ordered wine too? I think it is the best to go with the wine, but beer is not a bad idea.

We had sangria and mojito pitchers to share. Even the drinks are sharing basis. Lol.

How great to have a place like the Pottery Tapas Bar so close to home. I love tapas for dinner because you can try several things, especially if you share. Sounds like a perfect spot for Valentine’s with the MIL!

Yeah, I love tapas too because I want to eat everything everytime I look at a menu. So this is good for me. Try out each dishes in small sharing portions. 🙂
