Marriott Marquis City Center Doha launched a Country Culinary Week for the first time this year. Four of the hotel’s restaurants namely Ipanema, Crossroads Kitchen, Champions and New York Steakhouse are all offering specific country-style dishes from 1st until 7th of November on top of their regular menu. Except for New York Steakhouse, all the restaurants have revamped their look to go along with the theme.
Last night, we were invited to try out the Marquis Country Fest at Crossroads Kitchen. Entering the saloon swinging doors, I thought that they do take this country theme seriously. I got more excited to try out their dishes, will they live up to the theme as well with the feast they’ve prepared for us?
Crossroads Kitchen kept their normal buffet spread but of course the special country-style dishes were on the spotlight. Staying in the theme – I filled my plate with burritos, pulled-beef burger sliders, nachos and of course, fried chicken.
On the other side of the buffet was the spiced rubbed roast beef which had my mouth watering when I saw it. I could see the meat crackling under the light warmer which seems to call out on me saying “eat me! eat me!”. If you follow me on Snapchat, you’ve probably seen this glorious dish as well.
Both The Greek Mister and I agreed that the burger sliders and spiced rubbed roast beef are the best. The flavorful spices on the roast beef gave the meat a subtle flavor but if I have to be honest here, it’s the fat which made this dish divine. This is the reason why I’m not a vegetarian.
They have also prepared special cocktails to go along with the theme. I love how they named each drink. To my surprise, The Greek Mister chose to have beer. I was expecting him to order the Cowboy Smash cocktail which is a deadly combination of rum, gin, vodka, tequila, cointreau and lemon juice. Whoever thought of this mix is sadistic.
I on the other hand, chose to have a refreshing drink called Cactus Juice and then tried the Mexican Standoff afterwards. I’m not a big fan of the latter mainly because it had a strong taste of creme de menthe in it. As we finished our meal, the manager insisted that we have a Gun Shot (a drink, not the real one) before we leave which was a big mistake. Good thing none of us was driving that night.
A live band playing Dolly Parton songs (not exclusively) entertained us throughout the night. There were a good amount of diners last night at Crossroads Kitchen but our cowboy and cowgirl servers were quick and attentive. Overall, it was a good experience.
If you haven’t yet, make sure to visit Marriott Marquis City Center Doha to join in the fun of their Country Culinary Week. They are also doing a raffle draw at the end of this event which could give you a 2-night stay in the hotel or Friday brunch and dinner for 4.
