“Viewpoint near me!” I commanded Google to search while driving around with no specific destination. We checked out of The Bear of Rodborough at around 10 in the morning which meant we had a full 5 hours to kill before we could check-in to our next hotel. I specifically didn’t put anything for this day to give the Greek Mister a break but thinking about it now, I should have.

We’re old people. We no longer sleep in through the day and basically wake up at 6am almost every single day during this holiday. So sitting around in the hotel before checking out was out of the question as it bores the husband so much. So we drove, aimlessly until I figured that google might be able to help us.

The nearest viewpoint was Coaley Peak which was just perfect! As we parked our car and walked to the edge of the small field, the view took our breath away! It’s just majestic! The scene in Lion King where Mufasa told Simba this famous line: “Everything the light touches is our kingdom” came to mind. How amazing it would have been to be able to say that to someone? Lol. For now though, I’m just glad I could enjoy sceneries like this.

On our way back, we passed by a field full of cows and noticed that there were a lot of cars parked around. We figured that there must be something worth parking for here so we got out of the car and satisfied our curiosity. We were greeted with another stunning view! Being spontaneous definitely pays off, we should probably do more of these often.

We drove around some more afterwards and came across The Gumstool Inn, another beautiful pub in the area. I had coffee while the husband had coke (I know right? I was surprised that he didn’t order beer as well) to kill some time before heading to our hotel which ultimately became the highlight of this trip. It was certainly worth the wait! 🙂
