So I got these the other day:
Nope those are not from my mother (the care package from my mother will come maybe next month), those were gifts for me from a good friend here in Dubai who came back from her vacation in the Philippines. Isn’t she a darling? If you don’t think I’m lucky to have a friend like her then tell me who is.
Have you ever had that feeling when you saw someone for the first time and you already knew that you’ll get along with that person and from then on you will cling to him/her like a moth to a flame. Little did you know that it’s already a start of a good friendship. Well, those were the exact feelings I had when I first saw Honeypie (of course that’s not her real name but I call her that, tee hee).
I met her at the headquarters waiting for the HR agent to give us a new joiner briefing 4 years ago. We were both looking like a girl lost in the woods trying to understand how we ended up in that place. Anyway, in the course of the 4 months that we worked together (I was transferred to a different department afterwards), I found out that we have a lot in common. She’s also the youngest in the family and like me, we were both dependent to our mothers and sisters financially. Haha! Well, I’m proud to say that I’m no longer THAT dependent to mine anymore.
I would say that amongst all my friends here in Dubai (fake or real), she’s the one that I’d probably entrust my life to. And having said that, she’s also the only one that I really give presents to whenever I travel. Not expensive ones like what she just gave me but little trinkets like a murano glass necklace from Italy. Yes, I’m a big shot. At least I want to believe that. Hahaha!
Anyway, I love her and I can’t thank her enough for these. Specially the make-ups as I never buy them myself, my sisters and in this case, my friends give me those as gifts. I have the best people around me I reckon. 🙂
