Boston’s, Now Open at City Centre Rotana Doha.

Boston's Pub, City Centre Rotana Doha

Up until now, I still haven’t found OUR place in Doha. You know the kind of place that you just keep going back to whenever you need a quick bite or drink after a hard day’s work? I know that there are quite a lot of places to go to here in Doha but nothing’s met our criteria yet.

You see, we’re not really into fancy places (anymore) serving watered-down cocktail drinks with ridiculous prices. We also don’t like going to clubs (anymore) or anywhere which plays really loud music. I have partied so hard when I was in my 20’s that I’m still quite tired from the last party I’ve had since then. I’m now more into relaxed, no-frill places where you really pay for the food and the drinks and not the DJ playing some crappy songs or a view that can only be enjoyed when the night’s clear.

Boston’s Restaurant and Lounge at the City Centre Rotana Doha which has just opened last week is giving us hopes though. I think this could be our place. A trendy but casual bar with a laidback atmosphere. It’s a place which encourages you to be comfortable, not a place to show off your brand new Louis Vuitton shoes or Chanel handbags.

We were one of the lucky few to be there during their opening night. Food served was good, at least the ones that I’ve tried which basically are just small bites of what they have to offer. I can’t really fully rate it though. I have to experience their food in a non-opening night setting. I can’t deny this though, whenever I see a tray of pulled-beef burgers being passed around that night – I was always crossing my fingers that they’d pass by our table. I think I have grown a special liking to it already.

A quick browse through their menu gave me an idea of how their prices fare with other bars in the city – it’s very reasonably priced for Doha standards I think.

It’s too early to make a decision whether I love or hate Boston’s but I have to admit that it gave us a good first impression. We’re trying it out again soon and hopefully, the impression will be the same.

What do you prefer? Fancy bars or laidback pubs?

I don’t particularly go out regularly for drinks, but when we do, either it’s a girls night out or a group of friends hanging around we tend to go to CHEVY’S, which is a chain restaurant (I’m not a fan of chain restaurants) but we like the house made chips and the all day happy hour. Margarita is my drink of choice.
