First thing I saw from Aramede’s Pan-Asian buffet spread was the Filipino macaroni salad, a dish which I have been craving for the longest time. It got me so excited to explore the other options that they have. Dish after dish, my heart leapt with joy as I went through the buffet spread. Wakame salad from Japan, kimchi from Korea, chili crabs from Singapore, chicken pau from China, pad thai from Thailand and bistek tagalog from the Philippines just to name a few. They’ve got the whole Asian continent covered, at least most of the Eastern side that is. I couldn’t wait to start the meal and dive into the unlimited supply of deliciousness.
Dilis or dried anchovies with sweet and spicy coating was waiting on our table as we sat, I’ve been reminded of my childhood as I took a piece of it. I used to snack on it while watching TV as a kid and partnered it with beer when I got older. Lol. After stuffing my face with all the dilis that I can handle, I started my meal with macaroni salad (of course), wakame salad, kimchi, chicken money bags and spring rolls. I also popped in a piece of sushi in my mouth as I passed by it when nobody was looking. Best dish for me on this first plate was wakame salad followed by chicken money bags. I must admit though that I was somehow disappointed that they didn’t have much option of dimsums.
I went full Filipino on my second plate and filled half of it with steamed rice. I had a piece of bistek Tagalog, a piece of lamb chops with Thai spices and korean bulgogi as my viand. The bistek Tagalog was too salty for my taste, not even a spoonful of rice could tone it down. The korean bulgogi on the other hand was perfectly done, Rochelle of Quest and Mark who was sitting beside me could hear every single “mmmmm” noises I’ve made for every piece of bulgogi that I ate. The meat was so tender and very thinly sliced with the right amount of sweetness in it to make me love it! It was definitely the highlight of this meal for me and I’d go back to this buffet for the bulgogi alone.
As expected, my stomach felt so heavy and I couldn’t move from my seat after all the rice consumed. It’s a good thing then that they brought Pad Thai Hor Kai Goong Yang on our table. It’s pad thai wrapped in egg omelette which again was done to perfection! After a few portions of it, I was done for the night – if I was at home, I’d probably be slouched on our couch rubbing my belly at this point.
