Burger Fest at Admiral’s Club at The Ritz-Carlton Doha started yesterday and being a burger fanatic myself, I just can’t miss all the mouthwatering international burgers and sliders from around the globe. But first, where’s the Admiral’s Club?
Before going there for the burger fest, I had the sophisticated Habanos in my mind. All along I thought that Admiral’s Club is Habanos which is my favorite lounge in Doha (you should definitely have one of your after-work drinks in that place, their cocktails are amazing!).
When we arrived at The Ritz-Carlton, we were advised that Admiral’s Club is actually in a separate building. I was disappointed but not for long because Admiral’s Club became our favorite bar in Doha right after this dinner. I still have Habanos as my favorite lounge though.
I love the laidback atmosphere of Admiral’s Club, this is the kind of place we (The Greek Mister and myself) enjoy the most as it’s not pretentious and doesn’t make one uncomfortable. Come as you are is their motto, such a surprise since they’re in a prime location.
They have a huge outdoor area where most of the diners last night were sitting since the al fresco weather finally arrived in Doha. The marina views that they have is quite hard to beat if you ask me but what I do love most about this place is how relaxed and comfortable everyone is. It was packed when we arrived, surprisingly since it’s a weekday.
Perusing through their menu gave me a reason why this place is packed, they’ve got reasonable prices for everything. The Greek Mister said that their beer is actually QAR4 cheaper than the bar we USED TO frequent in the city. Amazing views plus reasonable price, that’s an impossible combination to find here in Doha.
We went there for the Burger Fest which meant I had to stop myself from ordering something else on their menu. Their burger fest menu only had 5 options so choosing which one to devour was quite easy. I had Ritzy Burger which is Angus Beef and Foie Gras burger with sauteed mushroom, raspberry jam, tomato, lettuce and fries.
The Greek Mister had fish and chips in a bun, we both ate half of each other’s orders. Hitting two birds with one stone as they say.
Both The Greek Mister and myself agreed that the Ritzy Burger was too dry however, we asked for it to be well-done so I guess that was our fault. I was expecting the foie gras to be another layer of the burger but it was already mashed up with the meat itself. I could still taste a hint of it though. The fish and chips in a bun was tasty, the tartar sauce had the right amount of sweetness and acidity which didn’t overpower the taste of the crispy fish.
We were both full after the meal, the serving is so huge that one burger I think would be enough for two diners. We are definitely going back to try out the other burgers, I already know what I’m going to order next time – the Mexican burger.
