Much Ado About Nothing

The Great Alma Mater

In the Philippines, the school you graduated from defines your character/status/personality which basically means, it matters a lot. And I mean, A LOT. In fact, some companies in the Philippines will hire someone based on this criteria. Pathetic, I know. I’ve never really paid much attention to it specially now that I’m abroad and where the school’s logo on the diploma that you have is worth nothing really. (What matters here is the passport that you’re holding. Tee hee.) Having said that, I’ve never really shown such passion to support my Alma Mater when it comes to the yearly inter-university basketball tournaments or the cheering competitions. It was fun while I was still there, studying. To support our team. But now that I’ve graduated some years ago (ahem!), I’ve never really cared much about it anymore.

Anyhow, the point of this blog is (if there is any) when another Filipino staff from the new office that I’m working in asked me where I graduated from and I’ve told her my school, she squealed with delight in her eyes: I KNEW IT!!!!! YOU HAVE THAT THOMASIAN AURA! I’M FROM UST TOO!

Now here comes the question, what is the “Thomasian” aura? I’ve no freaking clue.
