Day 119 of 363 blog post challenge: Arabian Travel Market 2012

We went to attend the Arabian Travel Market today, it’s an exhibition of participating countries showcasing their place to potential clients. Since the market here in Dubai is very diverse and multi-cultural, I couldn’t think of any other place perfect for this kinds of exhibitions. It’s an old school style of advertisement but I think very effective. Although these days, one need not have brochures nor books to know about a certain place, you’ll just have to rely on the interwebs (or sometimes a phone app) to do your research. Well, at least that’s how I do mine.

And because I don’t really need brochures anymore, I was more inclined to see the stalls of countries which offers a local “touch” of the place – free local desserts, free tea/coffee, free souvenirs and free massage (Thailand and Philippines stalls offered the latter). Maybe that’s one advise for the future exhibitors next year.

At the end of the day, we were asked to create a presentation about one particular destination that we’ve seen at the exhibition. I know, I felt like I was in school all over again but anyway – let’s just give them what they want. Right? We chose Kenya and three of us were assigned to showcase the attractions and tours that you can see/experience in the place. I’ll give you the first page of my powerpoint presentation:

Heh! I don’t really know what’s up with our management and why they asked us to do this but as always, whatever makes them happy. :)

On a totally different and unrelated note, weekend is here! On Sunday, I will be home. Wish me luck as I heard it’s freaking humid there right now.
