AZ.U.R at Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel and Suites

after having a few drinks at the observatory, we went to the HC floor (no idea what HC means) of the same hotel and went over to AZ.U.R for dinner. we were greeted by a staff who looks like he’s just been to disneyland as he looked so happy to see us. upon entering the restaurant, we saw some other staff who were just as happy to see us as the receptionist, you’d think they’re all high. :)

the menu consists of one page and doesn’t have much variety. i ordered seafood paella for myself and the boyfriend ordered a seafood linguini pasta, for starters we had deep-fried squid rings. i LOVEEEEED the squid rings as it still had the tangy squid taste unlike the other calamaris which will be covered too much of flour or whatever it is that they use to make it crispy. the boyfriend didn’t like the squid rings which all worked out well for me as i gobbled it all down with my heineken shandy. :)

the food took a long time to arrive but the good thing about it is, you can see their kitchen from where you’re sitting and see for yourself how the chef is preparing your food. the kitchen separates itself from the diners with just a see-through glass. as soon as the food came, i gobbled a fork-full of my paella which is not a very smart thing to do as it was HOT. i burned all my taste buds that night i believe. my stupidity overruled my common sense once again, didn’t i just see the chef take out the pot with the paella inside it with his hands covered by a very thick mitten? anyway, i loved the paella at first but as soon as my taste buds started working again and could taste the lemon in it, i decided that i don’t like it anymore. i don’t know, the citrus taste was too strong for a paella. it has been a long time since i’ve eaten a good paella and i’m not very sure if it should really have lemon in it. anyway, i was not able to finish my paella as the serving was too huge for one person. the boyfriend liked his pasta though.

would i go back to this place? maybe. but not anytime soon for sure. maybe when it’s no longer too cold to sit outside their terrace an have shisha.

i used my entertainer voucher and saved AED42 out of the total bill.

Total Entertainer voucher savings: AED313 which now leaves me with only AED37 to get back the money i paid to buy the book which was AED350. :)

I used one of my Yo Sushi! Entertainer voucher the other night with Aila and saved AED78.00 out of the total bill but I’m just too lazy to do a review of the restaurant. :p
